Overview
The Interface Between Policy & Research

Bringing it all together

In order to develop robust and sustainable policy, it is important for policy makers and researchers to be able to work effectively together – however, the current relationship between policy makers and researchers isn’t as strong as it could be.

Ahead of the Game, the recently released blueprint for reform recommends that organisations focus on building stronger partnerships. The question now facing public servants and their research counterparts is – how do we do this most effectively?

The Interface between Policy & Research Conference has been designed to assist in this. It will feature a series of presentations from lead agencies as well as those departments and academic/research institutions making headway in this area.

With a highly practical focus and presentations exploring what both sides can do to bridge the gap, this conference will leave those in attendance better placed to work more effectively together and ensure the development of robust, sustainable, evidence-based policy.

Delegates will learn:

  • How to understand each other’s mindsets and speak
    each other’s language

  • How to build and maintain strong partnerships

  • What leading government departments and academic/
research bodies are doing to bridge the gap

  • How to maximise the value of in-house and outsourced
    research
